Homestand a Wash; Rain a Problem Across the NWL
Wednesday, June 11th, 2008Official word came through today that then entire Waterloo Bucks eight-game homestand has been relocated out of Waterloo. The games today, tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday will all be played at Madison. They will all start at 7:05 PM, except for Sunday’s game, which is scheduled for 3:05 PM. The games Friday and Saturday against Wisconsin are still being rescheduled. Athletic Park in Wausau is not available on Friday. It is still being decided whether the teams will play a doubleheader Saturday, or play just one game and have another made up during the July 2-3 series when the Woodchucks are scheduled to go to Waterloo.
Tonight’s game between Brainerd and Thunder Bay has been postponed. They’ll play two seven inning games tomorrow beginning at 5:35 PM in Brainerd. This is third rainout Brainerd has had at their park this season. All three days that they’ve been on the road have been rained out as well, including the two games cancelled in Waterloo due to the flood.
Other cities that may experience some weather issues tonight include Mankato (vs. Alexandria), Rochester (vs. Duluth), La Crosse (vs. Eau Claire), Wauasu (vs. Green Bay), and Madison (vs. Waterloo). When I started writing that portion I didn’t expect to list the entire League. Everyone except for Battle Creek (vs. St. Cloud) might see some rain tonight.
Herrera Recalled
The Cincinnati Reds recalled LHP Danny Ray Herrera today. The former La Crosse Logger made just one appearance last week during his first Major League callup. Pitcher Gary Majewski was placed on the bereavement list to open up the spot. That could mean that this stint for Herrera may be very brief as well.
